Learning

One of the ideas from my college studies in the field of education is the difference between "schooling" and "learning."  The former is what takes place in a building or classroom (though now of course it can take place in the virtual classroom as well!), the latter is what we pursue our entire lives. Education is a lifelong process, from the moment we're born, through our school years, and on.

I'm fortunate, I think, in that I love to learn new things.  This is not to say that certain topics aren't intimidating or challenging, but I very much enjoy being stimulated by the process of discovering something I don't know and finding out more about it.  This is a benefit to me as a writer, reader, friend, researcher, and human being.  With the Internet, learning is always just a moment away.  (Some decry the loss of wonder inherent in the Information Age, but that's a post for another time.)

This week, I learned some aspects of Photoshop I didn't know, and as an added bonus, learned a new way to search Google Images by file size and even by color!  It was there all along, under Advanced Image Search.

I also discovered that learning about something makes it less scary.  Knowledge illuminates dark corners and eases my mind.  Learning broadens my horizons, expands my thinking, reassures me that paths have been forged by other seekers and they've left behind their expertise in hopes of lighting the way for others.

Learning.  Keri definitely recommends.

I am impressed that you know how to use Photoshop at all! I recently acquired it at work but have been intimidated about even starting to use it.
