Follow the Line by Laura Ljungkvist (2006)

This brightly illustrated book is the ideal type of book for sharing with kids in pairs or individually -- cuddling on the couch or kicked back in the recliner.  The author/illustrator provides activities of varying complexity that will appeal to both older and younger book lovers, whether answering counting questions by studying the illustrations ("How many balloons do you see?" or "How many orange buildings can you count?") or following the line from beginning to end.  From the city, through the traffic, into the forest, and out to the country village, the line takes you on a quiet yet vivid counting adventure.
